Before the Signal, We Light the Lantern
Today, the Yellow Brick Road to AI opens a new doorway.
Before the Signal, We Light the Lantern**
**A pause before the story opens**
Today, the Yellow Brick Road to AI begins a new doorway.
By “Signal,” we mean the first faint call from the larger OZ~QZ story-world beginning to open.
Prequel 1: The First Signal will take us to the edge of the familiar Road...
— before Dorothy, before the Scarecrow, before the Tin Woodman, before the Lion, before the Emerald City becomes the bright center of the tale.
But before the signal comes, we pause.
🕯️ We light the lantern. 🕯️
That matters.
Because every meaningful journey needs more than excitement.
It also needs intention.
Over these first weeks on the Yellow Brick Road to AI, we have been laying down the first bricks carefully. We began with welcome. We began with the idea that this Road is for travelers, not experts only. We said the human still matters. We said the Road needs both tools and tales. We said the next step does not have to be dramatic — only honest.
Now, before we enter the story threshold, it is worth asking:
**What are we carrying with us?**
If this Road is going to mean anything, it cannot be only about novelty.
It cannot be only about spectacle.
It cannot be only about the latest model, the newest platform, the loudest claim, or the fastest way to produce more noise.
The Road is older than that.
And the questions are deeper.
So before the signal, we steady ourselves around a few simple companions:
**Questions.**
Because curiosity matters more than pretending.
**Tools.**
Because AI should help us do real work in the real world.
**Stories.**
Because people do not live by instructions alone.
**Wisdom.**
Because intelligence without discernment is not enough.
**Compassion.**
Because no future worth building should forget the human heart.
That is the spirit in which we walk.
The lantern does not show us everything.
It does not flatten mystery.
It does not remove uncertainty.
It does not give us the whole map before we begin.
It gives us enough light for the next honest step.
And tonight, that is enough.
Tomorrow, the signal begins.
Tomorrow, the Road hums a little differently.
Tomorrow, we step out of introduction and into the first shimmer of the larger mythos.
But tonight, we pause.
We breathe.
We gather our intention.
We remember that the future is not only something that happens to us. It is also something we help shape by the way we ask, build, discern, imagine, and care.
So tonight, before the signal, we light the lantern.
And tomorrow, we follow.
**Road Question:**
Before beginning something new, what matters more to you: excitement, clarity, preparation, or purpose?
🕯️ So today, before the signal, we light the lantern. 🕯️
And later, we follow.
YBR 🟨🕯️💚
