STORYTIME BEGINS
The Flotilla is home.
Not retired.
Not finished.
Home.
After Jalacasco taught us patience, King Anko reminded us that strength can serve kindness, and Quok showed us what happens when stewardship fails and rebuilding begins, the ships finally slipped back into Loland.
Ropes were thrown.
Sails came down.
Cargo came ashore.
Maps were carried inside.
And for the first time in quite a while...
nobody had to ask:
WHERE ARE WE GOING TOMORROW?
Because October is going to work differently.
WE HAVE BEEN CROSSING THE MAP.
Now we begin crossing the stories.
For months, destinations have appeared on the horizon.
An island.
A kingdom.
A harbor.
A palace.
A forest.
We arrived.
We looked around.
We learned something.
Then the wind carried us onward.
That rhythm built the world.
But every world eventually asks for something more.
It asks us to stay.
To listen.
To follow somebody through the door.
OCTOBER IS STORYTIME.
That means a destination may hold us for more than one day.
A character may have time to become more than a name.
A mystery may not be solved before sunset.
A voyage may begin without knowing exactly how it ends.
We may discover:
old alliances
unfinished quarrels
forgotten maps
dangerous waters
hidden rooms
strange kingdoms
new friends
and people who are not quite what they first appear to be.
Some stories will come from the inherited lands we have been exploring.
Others will belong entirely to OZ~QZ.
And we will always tell you which is which.
THE DIFFERENCE MATTERS.
There is something beautiful about inheriting a world.
Someone imagined it before us.
Someone drew the map.
Someone opened the first door.
We honor that.
But imagination is not a museum.
A road that can only be admired eventually stops being a road.
So when inherited canon ends...
our responsibility begins.
Not to overwrite it.
Not to pretend our additions were always there.
But to continue traveling with respect.
LOLAND IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO BEGIN.
Home ports contain more stories than travelers notice.
A crate with the wrong destination scratched into its side.
A sailor who recognizes a flag nobody else remembers.
A map folded beneath another map.
A ship returning with one passenger too many.
A warehouse door that has not been opened in twenty years.
A message waiting for someone who has not yet arrived.
Adventure does not always begin beyond the horizon.
Sometimes...
IT HAS BEEN WAITING ON THE DOCK.
Tonight, the four ships rest.
The crews eat.
Rigging is repaired.
Charts cover the tables.
Peg is undoubtedly auditing something nobody asked him to audit.
Somebody has probably misplaced the strawberries again.
And somewhere in Loland...
a story is already beginning.
We just have not opened the right door yet.
OCTOBER 1.
First day of Storytime.
The ships are home.
The pages are blank.
The lantern is lit.
TURN THE PAGE.
