🛣️ TAKE THE RIDE
There is something wonderfully absurd about a roller coaster.
We climb aboard knowing perfectly well that we will soon be carried somewhere we cannot control.
Up.
Down.
Around a corner we cannot see.
Perhaps completely upside down.
And we call that fun. 🎢
Yet when life does precisely the same thing, we often demand an explanation.
Where is this going?
What happens after the next turn?
How does this end?
We want the map before we take the journey.
But the Yellow Brick Road has never worked that way.
🧱 THE NEXT BRICK
Dorothy didn’t leave Munchkinland knowing everything that awaited her in Oz.
Scarecrow didn’t know where his search for a brain would lead.
Tin Woodman couldn’t see his heart waiting at the end of the Road.
Lion certainly didn’t feel courageous when he began looking for courage.
They knew only enough to take the next step.
And then another.
And another.
Perhaps that’s one reason the Yellow Brick Road has endured for generations.
It resembles life.
We can make plans.
We can choose directions.
We can learn from yesterday.
We can prepare for tomorrow.
But eventually the Road disappears around a bend.
And we have to walk anyway.
🏮 YOU DON’T NEED THE WHOLE MAP
There is a difference between wandering blindly and moving forward without knowing everything.
Wisdom asks questions.
Wisdom checks the map.
Wisdom listens.
Wisdom learns.
But wisdom also recognizes the moment when another hour staring at the map will not reveal what lies beyond the hill.
Sometimes understanding comes after the step.
Sometimes courage arrives during the journey.
Sometimes what looked like a detour becomes the Road.
And sometimes the destination we spent years imagining turns out to be only another beginning.
🎢 UPS, DOWNS & ALL
A life without valleys would have no mountains.
A Road without turns would reveal everything from the starting line.
And a story in which we already knew every page wouldn’t be much of a story.
So perhaps we don’t need to control every rise and fall.
Perhaps we need enough wisdom to recognize the next good brick beneath our feet...
and enough faith to step onto it.
The Road may climb.
The Road may fall.
The Road may take us somewhere we never imagined going.
But we’re still here.
Still learning.
Still becoming.
Still walking.
And there are bricks ahead.
🏮 FROM THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
You don’t have to see the whole Road to take the next step.
Prepare where you can.
Question what you should.
Hold tightly to what is true.
Then...
take the ride. 🎢🛣️🏮
