๐๐จ THE ROAD BETWEEN THE BOOKS ๐๐จ๐
๐ There are libraries in Oz where the books behave perfectly well ๐๐ค
They sit quietly on shelves.
They wait to be opened.
They do not argue.
They do not interrupt.
And they certainly do not wander off in the middle of the night looking for another book with whom they urgently need to speak.
Those are the ordinary libraries.
This was not one of them.
The Yellow Brick Road had carried us into a long hall lined with shelves so tall that their uppermost volumes disappeared into clouds of golden dust.
Hatta tilted his hat backward.
โBit excessive, isnโt it?โ
The White Rabbit stared upward.
๐ โIโm already late. I absolutely do not have time to read all of this.โ
Professor Parallax smiled.
โYou may not have to.โ
That was when the first book opened itself.
Then another.
Then six more.
Pages fluttered.
Diagrams glowed.
Threads of light stretched from one volume to another.
A book about stars sent a silver strand across the room toward mathematics.
Mathematics answered.
Botany reached chemistry.
Music found physics.
History tapped philosophy on the shoulder.
And a dusty little volume that apparently had not been opened in decades suddenly began glowing because somewhere else in the library...
another book needed exactly what it knew.
The Scarecrow stopped walking.
That caught my attention.
๐ง
Because perhaps knowledge has always worked this way.
We divide it into subjects because shelves require labels.
Science.
Art.
History.
Faith.
Technology.
Music.
Medicine.
Philosophy.
But reality never agreed to our filing system.
The universe does not stop at the edge of the biology department and ask permission before becoming chemistry.
A melody does not know it is also mathematics.
A forest does not know where botany ends and ecology begins.
And curiosity has never been particularly respectful of fences.
The Road curled between the shelves.
One yellow brick passed beneath a book of astronomy.
The next beneath poetry.
The next beneath engineering.
And suddenly the Road itself seemed to be saying something.
The treasure may not be inside any single book.
It may be in the road between them.

We live in an age containing more recorded knowledge than any human being could consume in a thousand lifetimes.
Our problem is no longer merely finding information.
It is discovering the connections hiding between pieces of information that were never introduced to one another.
Perhaps that is one of AIโs most extraordinary possibilities.
Not replacing the thinker.
Not becoming the wisdom.
But becoming a lantern carried through an enormous library...
illuminating doors we did not know were beside one another.
Professor Parallax ran one finger along a glowing strand connecting two distant shelves.
โCurious,โ he murmured.
โWhat?โ asked Hatta.
โThese books have been neighbors for eighty years.โ
He smiled.
โThey only just met.โ
We continued down the Yellow Brick Road.
Behind us, the library grew louder.
Not noisy.
Alive.
Ideas were finding ideas.
Questions were discovering questions.
Old knowledge was meeting new curiosity.
And somewhere among millions of pages...
a connection that had never existed yesterday was beginning to glow.
๐๐จ
Follow the Road.
Carry the Lantern.
Ask the next question.
Because sometimes the next great discovery is not waiting at the end of the Yellow Brick Road.
Sometimes...
it is the brick connecting two things we thought were separate.
