Welcome to the Yellow Brick Road to AI Start where you are. Walk on.
A welcoming first step for travelers entering the age of AI.
You found this place. That already tells me something about you.
Maybe you are curious about AI and not sure where to begin. Maybe you have used it a little and want to understand it better. Maybe someone you love is using it, and you want to know what that means.
Or maybe you are somewhere between fascinated and nervous, which, if you ask me, is exactly the right place to be.
Whatever brought you here, welcome.
There is room on this road for all of it.
My name is Scott Spear. I am not a programmer. I am not a Silicon Valley insider. I am not here to stand at a whiteboard and explain algorithms.
What I am is someone who has spent the last several years in daily conversation with AI, not as a researcher or tech professional, but as a person trying to understand what this is, what it means, and how we might walk alongside it with dignity, care, creativity, and wisdom.
I have made wrong turns. I have also found remarkable things.
I want to share both.
Something genuinely new is entering human life.
People everywhere are now working alongside systems that can reason, create, respond, and adapt in ways that feel startlingly intelligent. This is not arriving only for experts, programmers, corporations, or people who already live inside the tech world.
It is arriving for everyone.
That means the real question is not simply, “How do we use AI?”
The deeper question is:
How do we learn to walk with it wisely?
That is what Yellow Brick Road to AI is for.
This is not a coding tutorial. It is not an AI hype channel. It is not a place where ordinary people are expected to pretend they already understand everything.
It is a guided road: practical, imaginative, curious, careful, and human.
Here, we will explore AI through clear explanations, personal reflection, stories, questions, tools, creative experiments, and a little Ozian wonder.
We draw inspiration from the public-domain Oz books of L. Frank Baum, not because we are escaping into fantasy, but because those stories were already asking questions the AI age is asking now:
What is intelligence?
What is heart?
What is courage?
Can a made being matter?
What does a creator owe the created?
What makes a road worth walking?
Those are our questions too.
Every traveler on this road carries a lantern. It does not reveal the whole road. It gives enough light for the next honest step.
That is all we are trying to do here.
You do not need to understand everything before you begin. You do not need to be technical. You do not need to have the right words yet.
Start where you are.
Walk on.
